As the leaves change colours and the air grows cooler, you can bet that autumn is on our heels! From cooking soups and chili to getting lost in a corn maze, there are endless ways to celebrate the arrival of autumn. Back in the early-twentieth century, Harris employees celebrated autumn together during Field Day!

While Harris Bank employees worked hard throughout the year, they were encouraged to play even harder. In the early-twentieth century, the bank sponsored a Field Day event for their employees to enjoy each other’s company and foster a robust work-life culture. Festivities ranged from activities like baseball and dancing to live music, to sharing a hearty dinner. Various field days took place over the years, but the fun and excitement remained the same. Not only were the bank’s executives in attendance, but so were the most junior employees, from page girls to messenger boys. Now is the time to take advantage of this autumnal weather!
